The Biomedical Sciences Back Story: Coon Rapids High School has an innovative elective Biomedical Sciences program available at no cost to all Anoka-Hennepin high school students. The program currently has room for more students to enroll – which is not the case with other specialty school/elective programs. This was an excellent opportunity to promote both the high school’s and Anoka-Ramsey/Anoka Tech Community College’s Biomedical Science programs. Superintendent Denny Carlson saw that promoting the program(s) was a way to enhance the image of the Coon Rapids High School, the Anoka-Ramsey/Anoka Tech Community Colleges, and the City of Coon Rapids.
All the Right Ingredients:
Strategic Communications Plan: MP+G developed a strategic communication plan that captured Anoka-Hennepin parents’ attention and brought home the fact that students can start earning their biomedical degree in high school. And both Coon Rapids and Anoka-Ramsey/Anoka Tech Community Colleges offer an innovative Biomedical Sciences program at a great value.
Crisp, Clean Creative Supports Key Messages: The billboards sported real-life Coon Rapids students from the biomedical program and confirmed that “Hot Careers, Rewarding Work, and Great Pay” are all within the high school student’s reach - all they need to do is register.
Results within Reach of all Anoka-Hennepin Students: Parent and student awareness of the biomedical program was increased. There has been an uptick in enrollment in the biomedical program at Coon Rapids School which is a direct pipeline to the colleges.
