Good Things Come to Those Who Wait: The initiative to get funding for all of Chatfield Public Schools needs proved to be a two-year campaign effort. The first year we helped pass an operating levy to augment dollars for teaching and learning programs and equipment. But the complicated set of questions - and high price tag - along with a tight economy and the impact of tax increases from a recent bond levy for the new elementary school led to the failure of the bond election.
A Solid Foundation: In preparation for the following year's campaign, the district sought community input via a series of surveys before formulating the bond question. The result was a more focused, more palatable proposal that an engaged community could get behind and support.
Ground-Breaking Results: Today much needed renovations, maintenance, and repairs are underway at the high school.
